Active Mobility Behaviours Contributing to Sustainable Development Goals
Active mobility plays a crucial role in reducing traffic congestion, improving air quality, promoting well-being, good health, and fostering social equality, all of which align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). However, assessing the impact of active mobility on sustainable development remains challenging due to the lack of clear identification of the specific SDGs influenced by it. This review analyses how previous studies quantify active mobility, its antecedents, and its impacts. Additionally, it aims to find if any impact can contribute to addressing the SDGs. A Rapid Evident Assessment method was employed in this research, questioning two databases: PsycINFO and Scopus. The findings provide (i) a comprehensive framework of variables that influence active mobility and those influenced by it; (ii) the predominantly SDGs affected by active mobility; and (iii) how the assessment of active mobility’s effects can enhance the measurement of the SDGs’ indicators. Therefore, the study identifies knowledge gaps, offering valuable guidance for future research in the field.
