Damage Detection in a 3D Truss Structure Using Natural Frequencies and Metaheuristic Algorithms
In this study, a highly efficient optimization methodology for damage identification in steel structures, especially truss structures, is introduced. Natural frequencies are adopted as an objective function for optimization. In order to deal with the optimization problem, a set of optimization algorithms is employed for the purpose of damage detection in a three-dimensional (3D) truss structure. To assess the behaviour of truss structures, a finite element (FE) model is used. The efficiency of each algorithm is assessed through examples of truss-like structures. The achieved results are compared with each other, and based on these results, several conclusions are drawn.
