Thermal Insulation for Fixed Formwork from Expanded-Clay Concrete Blocks
One of the main areas in scientific research is the improvement of existing building materials to increase the operational characteristics of buildings and structures. In previous investigation, the authors chose the most perspective form of the block and selected the composition of mix. Following this, the block was cast from expanded-clay concrete. Furthermore, during the laboratory testing, the compressive strength, shape, cost, and other characteristics were determined for manufacturing a new sample. The purpose of this research is to identify the most popular wall insulations in St. Petersburg for adjusting the heat-transfer resistance of the wall and the insulation cost. Thermomechanical calculations according to Russian regulations 50.13330.2012 “Thermal performance of the buildings” and Russian regulations 23-101-2004 “Thermal performance design of buildings” showed that the insulation of all four cells is unprofitable. However, with low-rise construction, there is no need to strengthen the block with a reinforced concrete core; hence, the dimensions of the block can be reduced. Besides, if it is necessary to increase the load-bearing capacity of the wall and use a reinforced concrete core, the choice of insulation is not obvious, and it demands to conduct additional tests to select it.
