Investigation of Buried Objects in the Ground by Borehole Radar Surveys
This study focuses on the investigation of buried objects in the ground using directional borehole radar (DBR) system. The aim is to help the development of construction projects in many regions. The DBR can detect the direction of arrival radar wave reflected from a subsurface object. This characteristic is a big difference from conventional borehole radar system to be called as omni-directional borehole radar (ODBR) system herein after. To evaluate the effectiveness of DBR system in detecting buried objects, field experiments of DBR survey have been conducted in Japan. In addition, there are several factors that need to be studied in more detail, for successful measurement and accuracy of DBR and ODBR measurement, one of which is groundwater condition (level, temperature) and soil properties.
