Paint Shop Productivity Improvements with Offline Programming: A Case Study
This paper focuses on the research and development in an existing paint booth for an automotive industry, based on digital simulation and process improvement. With the increase in market demand, the need for painted cabins was also increasing. So these new additions of cabin were increasing the pressure to paint in the existing paint shop, which was already running at maximum capacity. The primary objective of the research is to analyze each process, production sequence and identify underutilized resources, and make the paint shop ready with respect to increased demand. With the simulation tool “DELMIA,” different options are digitally evaluated. This is a case study of innovative process improvement in a paint booth which increased its output capacity up to 90%.
