Maintenance as Crosswise Indicator of Sustainability in Management and Evaluation Instruments
Sustainable development has long been considered the principle on which to base human action.
The construction sector today in progress toward the Fourth Industrial Revolution, as well as the other productive ones, turns out strongly involved in this issue and aims at introducing, since the design phase, and then in construction and management phases, tools for evaluation environmental impacts and energetic output of buildings.
In this scenery the paper introduces scientific presuppositions and general operational definitions of a multicriterial tool for sustainability evaluation denominated Protocol ITACA in its version for Calabria Region.
The authors participated in its drafting with roles of responsibility for the definition and structuring of the contents of one of the five areas of evaluation in which the Protocol is structured. The Area E. Quality of service.
One is the assumed key aspect that makes explicit the relationship between maintenance and evaluation of environmental sustainability, defining a new strong indicator of sustainability.
Today the definition of strategies for buildings sustainability is compared, in fact, with the guidelines sets out by the provisions both of legislative nature, at European and National level, both of European planning. They enact the direct connection among design and construction aspects and the matters related to buildings management and to maintenance of their qualities during the time.
