Seismic Performance Analysis of Regular and Irregular RCC Framed Building with Dampers
Tall buildings are inevitable in urban areas of most of the developed and developing countries in order to cater the needs of the growing population. While designing the tall buildings, engineers and builders should take care of the buildings in terms of safety and economy. Tall buildings may seriously suffer during the extreme lateral loading conditions like wind, earthquake, etc., if they are not properly designed. To control the adverse effects of lateral loads on tall buildings, certain vibration control systems are integrated with the buildings. Damper is one of the vibration control systems which is positioned in the building appropriately to protect the buildings against lateral loads. This paper presents the seismic analysis of a G + 19 regular and irregular RCC framed building with fluid viscous damper using the response spectrum method in ETABS 2018. Results indicate that there is a displacement reduction of about 38.49% and 35.8% in irregular and regular building, respectively, with the damper.
