Design sensitivity of critical loads and vibration frequencies of nonlinear structures
Abstract General design sensitivity formalism is introduced for non linear elastic structures reaching critical equilibrium states. The discretized formulation is first considered and the sensitivity analysis is discussed for regular and critical states including analysis of post-critical behaviour. Next, the variational approach is presented for beam and surface structures. The design sensitivity of critical loads and vibration frequencies is derived. Some illustrative examples are presented.
