Modelling Tools for Responsive Envelopes
The aim of this chapter is to provide the reader with the required knowledge to model the responsiveness of innovative envelope technologies. Firstly, the modelling techniques are grouped into two main classes—standard approaches and advanced computational approaches—depending on their availability and complexity. Considering EnergyPlus as reference energy modelling software, the modelling of each responsive technology available is clearly outlined in a step-by-step description to allow the reader to easily follow the modelling activity. With reference to the advanced modelling techniques, both EMS-based approaches and external computational routines are described to provide the widest range of possible applications.
