Engineering construction cannons: Theory and practice
Abstract The paper presents mathematical models describing interior ballistic processes of driving piles or anchors by shooting them into the soil from a piece of ordnance (recoil cannon) and demonstrates that the models are adequate to real processes taking place in a bore of a cannon; the paper also describes the examples of application of engineering construction cannons in oil-and-gas and in civil and/or industrial building construction. The paper describes the method of impulse indentation of long piles into the ground by means of recoil cannons, gives technical characteristics and photos of the civil construction ordnance facility built by a team of engineers and researchers from Perm, Russia. Also the paper gives evidences of economic efficiency of a piece of ordnance obtained in actual practice on the base of using recoil cannons for building up light pile footings.
