Conclusions 1. The presently existing approach to the problem of determining the winter operating conditions of station mechanical equipment is unwarranted by the practice of station operation and must be revised. 2. The problems of determining the winter operating conditions of spillway gates and trash racks must be solved by a well-founded method of forecasting winter conditions on the basis of the operating experience of hydroelectric stations. 3. The method of forecasting the operating conditions should be based on mathematical statistics and probability theory.
