Geometric Models for a Vocabulary of Architectural Primitives
Abstract The project of this chapter is to construct models of basic architectural elements that can be considered isolated components, or parts, of a more complex architectural composition. The elements considered are still geometrically defined, but they represent, in a different semantic description, architectural primitives. Once again, the term primitive should not be confused with the graphics primitives already encountered in the discussion on CAD. The components developed in this chapter do not represent a comprehensive architectural vocabulary, but rather some of the most recognizable forms, and their construction illustrates how models of other architectural elements can be created.
