Safe Operation of Recreational Swimming Pools with Silver-Copper-Ionized Water
Technically and hygienically safe and trouble-free operation of equipment will always be of decisive importance when it comes to socially significant facilities including public swimming pools. The paper proposes the swimming pool water disinfection facility that uses electrolytically generated oligodynamic action of silver and copper ions. The facility performance evaluation made use of the approved methodology for assessing chemical exposure risk for public health. The initial parameters were obtained experimentally. The statistical analysis of the laboratory data for six swimming pools, which have been using the electrolytically generated oligodynamic solutions for a period of five years, has shown these solutions’ high level of hygienic reliability and safety. The core parameter used in the evaluation is the intake by human body of silver and copper ions from the pool water. The study has shown that this intake can lead to concentrations many times lower than the established maximum permissible concentrations. The proposed technology fully meets all sanitary and water quality regulations.
