Formation and Evolution Mechanisms of Inclusions in Steel
In steelmaking practice, time of refining is an issue closely related productivity and influence competitivity of steel company. During the study, reaction time is also found importantly affected the control of inclusions. During the reaction of steel and the used high basicity high alumina slags, as MgO-based refractory (MgO crucible) is used, inclusions experienced important evolutions from alumina to spinel and finally into low melting point CaO–MgO–Al2O3 with extended reaction time. In this chapter, the topic was discussed in details to elucidate the evolution mechanism of inclusions.
