Technological Aspects of Getting Functional Materials Reinforced with Carbon Nanofibres
It is a topical issue to study the synthesis of aluminum-carbon nanofibers (Al-CNFs) directly on aluminum powder and to obtain novel wear-resistant coatings based on them. The paper presents the results of experimental studies in the field of the formation of functional wear-resistant coatings using the method of preliminary mechanical alloying in a planetary mill and cold gas-dynamic spraying. Addition of up to 1 wt. % CNF into aluminum powder doubles the functional properties of coating. The most perspective coating made of a composite material of the aluminum-CNF system is a coating with Al-0.5 wt. % CNF and Al-1 wt. % CNF. The preliminary mechanical alloying of the powder has imparted high mechanical properties to the material. The friction coefficient was μ = 0.1 for 0.5 wt. % CNF and μ = 0.13 for 1 wt. % CNF. The data show that the coatings obtained have high hardness and wear resistance and are considered as feasible alloyed materials when used for lightweight shipbuilding and aircraft structures for friction pairs.
