Due to the increase in popularity of PV systems, fire fighters, fire ground incident commanders, and other emergency first responders are encountering PV systems more often in fire events. “As a result of greater utilization, traditional fire fighter tactics for suppression, ventilation and overhaul have been complicated, leaving fire fighters vulnerable to potentially unrecognized exposure. Though the electrical and fire hazards associated with electrical generation and distribution systems is well known, PV systems present unique safety considerations” (Grant 2011).
