Order-Disorder Transitions in Hexagonal Binary Alloys — A Monte Carlo Analysis
Abstract Ordering reactions in alloys have been studied most extensively and successfully in the cubic crystal structures bcc and fee. In contrast to this only little work has been devoted so far to alloys with the hexagonal structure. This is to a good part due to a complication which arises even in the simplest approach of a pairwise interaction model, that is an anisotropy of the interactions. Consequently a correct treatment of the ordering reactions should take into account this anisotropy of correlations between atom pairs and higher order clusters. This is a difficult task with analytical models.
