Research on the Response of Rubber Bearings with Rotation Through Experiments and Finite Element Analysis
Rubber bearings may rotate between the upper and lower surfaces when the isolation bearing is used in large-span spatial structures or on the tops of columns of the building's substructure. This will inevitably have a direct impact on the isolation effect. Therefore, the isolation bearing with rotation is analyzed in this paper. Firstly, we establish three sets of experimental models to study the influence of rotation angles of bearings. Consequently, the presence of rotation angle will reduce the horizontal stiffness of the bearing, and this will result in the actual horizontal stiffness being different from the designed horizontal stiffness. In addition, shear strain and loading frequency also have an impact on horizontal stiffness. Due to the fact that the bearing mainly relies on steel plates for bearing vertical loads, the stress state of the steel plates is studied through finite element analysis. As a result, due to the presence of rotations, the force on the steel plate of bearing increases, and this will lead to safety hazards in the structure.
