Dynamic Identification of Damaged PC Bridge Beams
The present paper describes the dynamic test campaign on the decks and on one prestressed concrete bridge beam taken from a dismantled viaduct in Turin, Italy after a service life of 50 years. Dynamic measurements were previously performed on the decks from which 29 beams were taken to characterize the behaviour of the viaduct in service condition. Afterwards, the single beams are planned to be tested to evaluate the effects of the different degradation levels on the dynamic properties after the 50 years in service conditions. The collected data on the first beam testsed have been analysed to extract the principal modal components and the results are compared to the analytical results. The results of the tests will be used to better verify the effectiveness of the dynamic tests in the assessment of ageing infrastructures and to study the effects of damage on the single beams and its correspondence on the global response of this bridge typology.
