Architecture of Closed Creative Spaces: Typology and Functional Structure
In the article, the authors for the first time considered “creative spaces” as a new type of public spaces, their formation and varieties. An analysis of the functional structure of significant, successfully operating creative spaces in large cities of Russia, such as Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, was carried out. The authors were faced with the task of identifying the typology of closed creative spaces and analyzing their functional structure, as well as the forms of interaction between creative spaces and the urban environment. As a result of the study, the typology of existing creative spaces by location in the urban environment (integrated, built-in, freestanding, complex) and by the predominant functional purpose (business, educational, club and entertainment) were determined. The authors have identified the functional structure of creative spaces, in which the core (the main functions that determine the main purpose of the creative space) and additional functions are distinguished. The significance of the obtained results for the development of architectural science lies in the formation of the creative spaces types and consideration of their functional structure. This material can be used for both theoretical and practical work, in the design of creative spaces, as well as for the introduction of new types of public buildings and premises in the educational process.
