Seismic Resilient Outriggers and Multi-hazard Resilient Frames
This chapter firstly introduces the experimental work on the seismic resilient outriggers. It is worthy to mention that as supertall buildings are important landmarks of a modern city, the progressive collapse prevention of the secondary frames of the buildings is also frequently required in addition to the seismic design requirement. To overcome the conflict between the design principles of seismic design and progressive collapse design, novel multi-hazard resilient, prefabricated concrete and steel frames are proposed. Their performances are experimentally studied, based on which the corresponding design methods are developed.
