Anisotropy Phenomena in Cubic d-Band Superconductors
Anisotropy phenomena of monocrystalline superconductors are reviewed. A theory of Hc2 anisotropy in cubic metals with low impurity content at arbitrary temperatures below Tc is presented. According to this theory the anisotropy of the energy gap of the pure material and details of the electron band-structure anisotropy may be deduced from investigations of the temperature and impurity dependence of Hc2 anisotropy. By means of this theory microscopic anisotropy parameters for Nb are determined from recent Hc2 anisotropy data. Estimates of preferential orientations of the flux-line lattice relative to the crystals lattice resulting from these parameters are in agreement with experimental observations.
