Hydraulic laboratory verification of conditions for passage of Angara flows during construction and operation of the Bratsk hydroproject
Results are presented for hydraulic laboratory investigations conducted by the VNIIG im. B. E. Vedeneeva to substantiate conditions for the passage of flows during construction and operation of the Bratsk hydroproject. Various alternate schemes for closure of the Angara River channel, conditions for the passage of water and ice through the narrow river channel, over the crest of the dam, through bottom and deep tubular construction discharges, and over a surface spillway are examined on there-dimensional models. Designs of the bottom and deep tubular construction discharges, and the operational spillway, as well as optimization of hydraulic losses in the water intake to the HPP and penstocks were worked out on fragmented models.
