Electron Microscopy and the Structural Studies of Superconducting Materials and Fullerites
Abstract The possibilities of electron microscopy in the study of high temperature ceramic superconductors and fullerites or fullerite related materials are discussed. For the superconductors, particular attention is devoted to the structural changes introduced by different substitutions in the CuO chain plane. The defect structure of the pure and C70 fullerites is studied by high resolution electron microscopy, while the phase transitions at low temperature are studied by electron diffraction. Different electron microscopy techniques also allow a detailed study of the texture of carbon tubes.
