Structural Properties of Lightweight Rubberized Concrete
Abstract Light-weight concrete is a common filler and insulation material with potential applications in floor, roof and wall panel systems. This paper proposes a new Lightweight Rubber Concrete (LWRC) with improved dynamic properties through adding crumb rubber particles into conventional EPS (Expanded Polystyrene Ball) concrete. Four different mixtures were designed to study the influence of varying rubber percentages. The static structural properties including compressive strength, indirect tensile strength, Young’s modulus and impact resistance are tested. Test results show that the addition of rubber particles reduces material rigidity and strength however improves the material impact resistance.
