The Impact of COVID-19 on Public Transport in Polish Cities on the Example of Wroclaw
The COVID-19 pandemic is an example of a “black swan”, an unexpected event with a huge impact on the global economy. The introduced restrictions, aimed at reducing the level of virus emissions, influenced not only the economies of countries, but also the everyday life of their inhabitants. For this reason, it is currently one of the most up-to-date research topics of scientists around the world. One of the important areas of research is the impact of COVID-19 on the transport behaviour of the population. For this reason, the aim of the article is to present the results of the literature research on changes in the transport behaviours of residents during the COVID-19 pandemic and to characterize the changes in the functioning of the public transport system in one of the large cities in Poland. On this basis, regarding guidelines related to the future functioning of public transport in the city, conclusions will be formulated.
