Effect of Vibratory Sheet Pile Driving on Previously Constructed Bored Piles
The paper investigates the reciprocal impact of bored pile construction and vibratory sheet pile driving during the construction of a second startup complex in a business district in central St. Petersburg. In order to establish the time limits, as well as the safe distances within which piles are not critically affected by vibratory sheet pile driving, a field experiment and a numerical simulation were performed. During test driving, the vibration velocity and acceleration of ground surface and pile heads located at different distances were measured. These data were used to calculate stresses in the piles. The results showed that stresses in the piles caused by vibratory sheet pile driving can typically reach 30% of the maximum allowable values, even exceeding them in some cases. The findings can be applied in implementing proposed technical solutions on construction sites under similar geotechnical conditions.
