Small-Scale Pull-Out Testing on Bond Behaviour of Profiled Steel Reinforced CRC Composite Slabs
Abstract Crumb Rubber Concrete (CRC) is formed by replacing fine aggregates in conventional concrete with crumbed rubber made from scrap tyres. CRC has potential applications in residential structures not requiring high-strength concrete, such as residential suspended composite slabs and footings. The current standard design methods of composite slabs are heavily dependent on the results of full-scale bending tests, which are expensive and time-consuming. As part of an ARC linkage project on application of CRC in residential building, this paper presents small-scale testing study on the bond behaviour of CRC composite slabs. The overall performances of CRC specimens in pull out test were very close to CC (Conventional Concrete) specimens, which indicated the viable substitution of CRC in residential composite slabs.
