A Unified Coherent-Incoherent Target Decomposition Method for Polarimetric SAR
Polarimetric SAR decomposition is an effective tool to extract ground scattering components and it was dedicated to coherent or incoherent situations. However, coherent targets always mix with incoherent targets in a real situation, which makes decomposition a challenging task. To address this issue, a unified coherent-incoherent decomposition method based on target coherence parameter is proposed. The scattering matrices are transformed into coherency matrices to consolidate decomposition targets. Then a coherency parameter was raised to clarify the coherency of a given target, and decomposition results were generated by combining Krogager and Yamaguchi components via the discrimination of target coherency. Experimental results confirmed that the proposed target coherence parameter is able to differentiate coherent situations from incoherent situations. The unified decomposition can recognize ground scattering and achieve a classification accuracy of 84.96%. Our experimental results reveal that there is still space to improve the performance of unified decomposition.
