Pushover Analysis of Irregular Infill Building Frame to Evaluate Structural Performance
Seismic events pose a significant threat to buildings’ safety and structural integrity. Mixed-use buildings, which combine residential and commercial spaces, often have complex structural configurations, including infill walls, which can significantly impact their seismic performance. This investigation aimed to assess the behavior and response of a residential cum commercial infilled building with a seven-story height (G+7) under seismic loads using the nonlinear static pushover analysis method. The study aimed to estimate the structural capacity curve and gain insights into the performance of the infilled building under different earthquake scenarios. The unique challenges faced by residential cum commercial infilled buildings include the introduction of infill walls, which can affect the structure’s behavior and response during seismic events. The findings can improve understanding of structural response, including deformation patterns, inter-story drifts, and damage distribution. These insights can inform the development of improved design and construction practices, leading to safer and more resilient buildings in earthquake-prone regions. The researchers aim to provide valuable recommendations and guidelines for the design and construction of residential cum commercial infilled buildings, mitigating their vulnerability to seismic hazards.
