Water requirement of concrete mixes
Conclusions 1. The relation between the amount of water and the amount of cement is nonlinear. A minimum amount of water is observed for an amount of cement of about 300 kg/m3 concrete mix. This must be taken into account when proportioning concrete. 2. The relation R=f(C) should not be used, since in this case the effect of changes in the fluidity of the mix, aggregate size, etc., is quite substantial. At the same time, the relation R f(W/C) (as was already established long ago by many investigators) is preserved regardless of the fluidity of the concrete, aggregate size, etc. This relation must be used when proportioning concrete.
