Bond Behaviour Between Steel Rebars and Concrete Under Elevated Temperatures-Eccentric Pullout Test
Bond behaviour between rebar and concrete is studied at the elevated temperature of 20,100,200,300,400 and 500 ℃. The parameters considered are different types of diameters (12, 20 mm) of rebar and two different types of heating rates (2 ℃/min and ISO 834). Concrete compressive strength, 30 MPa is used. Pullout tests were conducted on a cubical specimen of size 200 × 200 × 200 mm with eccentrically embedded rebar. Pullout load is applied once desired temperature reaches at the interface. With the increase of temperature, bond strength reduces. Significant reduction of bond strength, in the case of heating rate followed by ISO fire curve, this may be due to large thermal gradients from concrete surface to the rebar interface, by following ISO heating rate.
