Dibenzo-18-crown-6 as a catalyst for tert-butyl hydroperoxide decomposition
Abstract Degradation of tert-butyl hydroperoxide in chlorobenzene in the presence of dibenzo-18-crown-6 ether has been studied. It has been established and kinetically proven that the degradation is preceded by the formation of an intermediate complex of the hydroperoxide with the crown ether. The composition of the complex and thermodynamic and kinetic parameters of its formation and decomposition have been determined.
