Conservation Planning of Road Construction Raw Materials - Satara a Case Study
Due to uneven climatic and overloading conditions, reducing pavement life is the major area in front of researchers. Several steps have already been taken to extend the life of the pavement and improve the design of bituminous mixture which may be costly or may not suitable for every area due to variation in the number of parameters. Other part leads the researcher to think about the exhausting conventional materials and waste disposal problems which are gradually becoming a challenge for sustainability. The present experimental and analytical investigation proposes a cost-effective and eco-friendly approach towards sustainable construction of road network and to mitigate the early deterioration of roads. The investigation discusses the experimental and analytical investigation of the use of different waste materials like RAP and waste plastic etc. in different layers of flexible pavement. The results reveal that the waste materials having somehow similar properties to that with conventional materials can be used partially in place of conventional materials. Application of optimum use of waste materials together with analytical investigation satisfying the minimum criteria’s allow to use waste materials in different layers of pavement. The further investigation about the local field condition present in the study area together with the outcome of analytical and experimental investigation supports to propose design charts for different subgrade soil conditions. The use of waste material in road construction not only mitigate with waste disposal problem but also shows improvements in governing parameters.
