Vibro-pressed Concrete in Ukraine: Problems, Trends and Prospects for Development
In this publication, the authors’ team from the Department of Construction Production at Lviv Polytechnic National University analyzes the current state of implementing vibro-compressed technology for ultra-hard concrete mixtures using high-productivity concrete forming equipment in Ukraine at the end of the XX and the beginning of the XXI century. The article examines the existing industrial capacities of industrial productions for mass production of a wide range of vibro-compressed concrete products in different regions of Ukraine and identifies the specific potential and development prospects of each of these manufacturers. The focus of the authors’ publication is on the experience of manufacturing a diverse range of building products using vibro-compressed concrete production facilities under the trademark “Mii Dvir” (Lviv). The study investigates the test results of vibro-compressed concrete paving stones that were produced using the automated block making machine model MASA XL 9.1 (Germany) under real production conditions. The article formulates ways to enhance the operational and physical-mechanical characteristics of both the face-colored layer and the main (base) layer of vibro-compressed concrete paving stones, which are manufactured based on ultra-hard concrete mixtures with a W/C ratio of up to 0.36. In the study, in addition to describing the general trends in the development of vibro-compression for industrial concrete based on ultra-hard mixtures, the authors analyze the results of current testing of actual vibro-compressed concrete specimens obtained in the accredited measurement laboratory of the “Mii Dvir” trademark and the specialized laboratory of construction materials at the Department of Construction Production, Lviv Polytechnic National University.
