Quality Control and Instrumentation
The safety of dams has been a principal concern regarding the various aspects of their raw materials, construction, and operation. Adequate quality assurance systems and procedures must be established to ensure safe dam construction. Since the construction of the first RFC dam, quality control has become a focus in all phases of dam construction. The basic philosophy followed by the authors is that a simple and easy construction method yields high-quality dams. The starting point for inventing rock-filled concrete was to simplify concrete technology. Therefore, the detailed design and construction processes of RFC dams, as well as quality control measures, should be as simple as possible.
