Multihazard Performance Assessments of a High-Rise Building in Hong Kong
Abstract For assessing seismic performances of high-rise buildings which are designed only for wind resistance in Hong Kong, a real high-rise building with a 270 m tall was selected for study through wind tunnel tests and numerical dynamic analysis. The dynamic responses of three building models were predicted under wind and earthquake excitations with different return periods. Then a comprehensive comparison study was conducted to reveal the critical wind and seismic performance of the buildings with different heights and dynamic properties. The findings provide better understanding of the seismic and wind performance of buildings in Hong Kong.
