The Urban Wage Employment Initiative: Reducing Vulnerabilities and Enhancing Resilience of the Urban, Odisha, India
The initiative titled “The Urban Wage Employment Initiative” focuses on reducing vulnerability and enhancing resilience in all 114 urban-local bodies (ULBs) of Odisha, India. It started in April 2020 and was initially planned to continue for a period of six months from the date of the start. Soon after, the initiative was converted into a full-fledged state flagship scheme with dedicated budgetary allocations. The project’s thematic sustainability areas stretch over all five areas: ‘social,’ ‘economic,’ ‘environmental,’ ‘governance/management,’ and ‘technology.’
