Nonlinear time history seismic performance of a base isolated vertically irregular reinforced concrete framed buildings for the near-pulsing ground vibrations
In India, vertical irregular reinforced concrete (RC)-framed buildings are very common. These buildings, due to irregularities (IR), are believed to be susceptible to the earthquake. India is the place where earthquakes are quite common, and a base-isolated (BI) system is provided in the building to strength the building. Such buildings provide better performance during seismic activity. During the literature survey, it was found that only a few researchers investigated the performance of BI and RC framed by nonlinear time history analysis (NLTHA) to predict the seismic effect on the vertically uneven buildings under the fault types pulsing ground movements. For this end, we collected the data for the non-linear time history seismic performance of a BI and vertically uneven RC-framed buildings for the near-pulsing ground vibrations with quite little and high ratios of the peak ground acceleration (PGA) and peak ground velocity (PGV). In this study, models of G + 5 story regular building (RB), stiffness irregular building (SB), mass irregular building (MB), and vertical geometric irregular (VB) building structure were investigated for both the FB and BI systems in ETABS. For the isolation system, three properties of lead rubber bearings (LRB) have been incorporated. For the seismic performance parameters, NLTHA was performed in accordance with IS 1893(Part 1): 2016. The obtained seismic parameter findings were compared and analysed.
