Multi-scale Modelling of Crushable Granular Materials
Abstract A microstructural model to consider the mechanical behavior of granular materials has been enhanced to incorporate the evolution of the critical state when significantly high grain breakage occurs during loading. The influence of grain size on grain strength is highlighted and its impact on the properties of granular assemblies is shown through the results of oedometer test simulations.
