A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Strand corrosion can cause the cracking of prestressed concrete. In this chapter, the concrete cracking caused by strand corrosion under different prestress is experimentally studied. Then, a theoretical model, incorporating the coupled effects of prestress and strand corrosion, is proposed to predict the global process of prestressed concrete cracking. Following this, a meso-scale numerical model is established to simulate concrete cracking induced by the three-dimensional corrosion expansion of helical strands.
