Abstract Due to rock excavation by blasting and the transport, storage and use of explosives can adversely affect the nearby properties and public, a blasting assessment should be undertaken in the design stage and in advance of the blasting works. In this chapter the contents of the Blasting Assessment Report (BAR) and how to prepare it according to the practice in Hong Kong will be discussed in detail.
