Early-age Cracking Control on High Strength Concrete with Crystalline Admixture
Different admixtures are applied in high strength concrete to meet the strength and durability requirements. Crystalline admixture is widely utilized for decreasing the permeability of concrete or strengthening the self-sealing of cracks. In this chapter, the effect of crystalline admixture on early-age cracking resistance of high strength concrete was investigated. The results showed that the addition of crystalline admixture enhanced the mechanical properties. Shrinkage of high strength concrete was increased by adding crystalline admixture. Relaxed stress was also increased with an increase of crystalline admixture. Earlier cracking age was observed with more crystalline admixture incorporated in concrete. The addition of crystalline admixture increased the cracking potential of high strength concrete.
