Dependence Between Extreme Rainfall and Extreme Temperature in Senegal
We provide the first statistical analysis of the dependence between maximum rainfall and maximum temperature in Senegal. The data are from twelve stations spread across Senegal. Nineteen popular copulas including several extreme value copulas were fitted to the data by the method of maximum likelihood. Four of the stations exhibited significant dependence structures. Two of the dependence structures were positive. The other two were negative. The adequacy of the best-fitting models was tested by various goodness of fit tests. Estimates of joint probabilities and joint quantiles are given.
