Chengdu-Chongqing City Cluster: From an Economic Zone to a Major Economic Circle in the Western China
As one of the core medium-level city clusters, the Chengdu-Chongqing city cluster is a significant economic circle in western China. We provide a detailed introduction to this major economic hub and highlight the twin city region’s significance in both the current and through a micro-historical analysis. We offer a demographic pattern of the city cluster before highlighting its industrial structure and sustainable development plan. It is known as an economic zone with the ecological civilization agenda, which has a major agenda beyond just the twin-city arrangement and more of regional-scale development. We then summarise the pathway towards achieving the carbon neutrality plan at the city cluster level.
