Sustainable Buildings
This chapter introduces current sustainable building practices in Slovenia. In Sect. 3.1, buildings in relation to sustainable development are discussed, followed by presentation of timber construction systems used in Slovenia (Sect. 3.2). The global building rating systems with the focus on rating systems used in Slovenia, passive house consortium certification and energy performance certification are detailed in Sect. 3.3. The chapter concludes with the environmental impacts of buildings, including indoor air quality and the durability of timber constructions (Sect. 3.4).
