Tiny House as Highly Potential Landed House Design for Millennials in Urban Areas of Indonesia
A comfortable landed house is essential to accommodate housing needs in urban areas, notably for Millennials, who demographically dominate the population in Indonesia, as reported in 2020. Conventionally, the stigma of the house for living refers to a pricy-bulky house with vast backyard access, which has become a distinctive culture in housing purchasing. Therefore, a suitable house design concept that is cost-effective and functional is needed. Two approaches were used, which are online questionnaires distribution with 200 Millennial respondents in an urban area and statistical data analysis as a quantitative approach. As a result, data shows that the landed house is still preferable to housing. In addition, only certain rooms are needed to be available and highly occupied, which concludes the unnecessary bulky house with many specific rooms. Based on these results, the suitable house design is narrowed down to the tiny house concept (TH). Moreover, TH requires further research on the best space configuration and healthy environment, which still has much room for improvement.
