A lot of plastics are used in the construction industry and are known to release volatile substances into indoor air or leach organotin. Both of these phenomena have an impact on health and environmental ecosystems. It can be considered as materials that can have significant negative impacts on some levels, and the construction industry poses a major risk to consumers and highlights many problems. Some of these elements can be eliminated while others seem to be inherent in the material itself and are therefore inevitable. These emissions depend on the composition of the plastics concerned and various related parameters. Adverse health impacts associated with plastics show a number of issues; some of them could be eliminated through design, but some are inherent to the material itself and therefore unavoidable. These plastics include PVCPolyvinyl chloride, chlorinated polyethyleneChlorinated polyethylene, chlorinated polyvinyl chlorideChlorinated polyvinyl chloride, chlorosulphonated polyethylene, and polychlorinated propylene rubber, all of which are discussed in this chapter. We briefly describe their chemical properties, uses, and effects on human health, as well as some other alternative materials to be used for environmental sustainability issues.
