Use of elastic metal-plastic segments with fluoroplastic coating of friction surfaces in bearings of turbine-generator units
Conclusions Segments with a fluoroplast coating of the friction surface with an elastic base (EMP-segments) provide a high reliability of bearings of large vertical units under specific loads up to 6 MPa under all operating conditions, permit removing all restrictions (with respect to idle time between stopping and the next start, oil temperature, and regimes with maximum axial force), do not require the use of the force-feed lubricating system during starts, and no not require scraping the working surfaces of segments during operation. The service life of EMP-segments is at least 8–10 years. The introduction of EMP-segments on units of operating hydrostations in place of the babbitted segments will effect a considerable economy.
