According to Elnashai and Di Sarno (Fundamentals of earthquake engineering: from source to fragility. Wiley, London, 2015), Earthquake Engineering is a branch of engineering concerned with the estimation of earthquake consequences and the mitigation of these consequences. It is an interdisciplinary subject involving seismologists, structural and geotechnical engineers, architects, urban planners, information technologists, and social scientists.
